Frequently Asked Questions

DNS Lookup queries the Domain Name System to find records associated with a domain. It reveals how a domain is configured – what IP addresses it points to, where email is routed, and more.

You can check A (IPv4), AAAA (IPv6), MX (mail), CNAME (alias), TXT (text/SPF/DKIM), NS (nameservers), SOA (authority), SRV (services), CAA (certificate authority), and PTR (reverse DNS) records.

DNS results depend on the resolver used. This tool uses the server’s system resolver. Different geographic locations and DNS providers may cache records differently.

Select the MX record type and enter the domain name. MX records show which mail servers handle email for the domain, along with their priority values. Lower priority numbers indicate preferred servers.

TTL (Time-to-Live) is the number of seconds a DNS record is cached by resolvers before they query the authoritative server again. Lower TTL values mean changes propagate faster but increase DNS query load.

Select the NS record type and enter the domain. NS records list the authoritative nameservers responsible for the domain’s DNS zone. These are the servers that hold the master copy of all DNS records.
